Help for Autism – Resources for Parents

We understand the frustration of trying to navigate through thousands of websites, information, and phone calls. We assist families in ascertaining available local and national resources.  We are an approved provider for Tricare South Region, Aetna, Georgia NOW and COMP waiver and South Carolina Pervasive Developmental Disorder Waiver.

What to Expect

Authorized parents and professionals are welcome to observe or join in on our therapy sessions. When visiting Coastal Autism Therapy Center, Inc. you can expect a warm and friendly staff in a productive, professional, and positive environment. Our center is well equipped and provides an ideal environment for learning. We have a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Crystal Height, MSN, BCBA, who oversees all therapy sessions which are conducted in a 1 to 1 setting by our highly trained behavior therapists.

Every room in our center is equipped with a 24-hour video camera to monitor and record therapy sessions in real-time. Parents are welcome to come in to view real-time video of sessions or previously recorded sessions.

Autism Resources for Parents

Recent studies have estimated the lifetime cost to care for an individual with an ASD (autism spectrum disorder) is around $3.2 million. Individuals with an ASD had average medical expenditures that exceeded those without an ASD by $4,110 – $6,200 per year.

Military Support

Military Benefits – Tricare ECHO

Currently, Tricare ECHO is one of the only insurance providers to cover ABA treatment for autism in the state of Georgia. Tricare ECHO is available to active duty soldiers. The beneficiary must be enrolled into EFMP. There is a monthly benefit of $2,500 and a yearly benefit of $36,000.

EFMP (Execption Family Member Program)

EFMP is a mandatory enrollment program that works with other military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated medical, education, housing, community support, and personal services to families with special needs, in accordance with AR 608-75.

Private Insurance

Coastal Autism Therapy Center, Inc. is contracted with most insurance companies to provide ABA services with individuals with autism.    ABA services unfortunately are not covered by most insurance companies in the state of Georgia.  Consequently, we are dedicated to assisting you in determining if your insurance company provides coverage for ABA services.   South Carolina does have state policies mandating coverage of ABA services for individuals with Autism. Parents having difficulties obtaining insurance coverage for ABA therapy are recommended to visit Autism Health Insurance Project’s website.
